STAFF and pupils at Earl Sterndale Primary School have celebrated the official opening of their new teaching space and outdoor play area.

Former Headteacher Alan Kitchen was invited back to cut the ribbon and officially open the new facilities for which plans were started five years ago.

Current Headteacher Daniel Holden, who has been in post for three-and-a-half years, said: "These new teaching areas are a valuable addition to our facilities and will help us maintain our excellent standards."

Children and parents took the opportunity to have a look around the new rooms.

The school, which has 26 pupils, has a free after-school club which is a valuable resource for working parents.

A Mums and Toddlers group also operates on a Wednesday from 1.30pm onwards.

If anyone would like more information about the school contact Annie Adams, who has been the School's secretary for 22 years, on 01298 83263.
