Pupils use their loaf in national cooking project
PUPILS at Buxton Infants School have been using their loaf to make bread as part of a national cooking initiative.
Representatives from Warburtons visited the school to show the children how to make dough and bake bread.
The visit was part of the 'Lets Get Cooking', which is backed by lottery funding.
Headteacher Jude Boyd said: "We believe it's vital that children learn how to eat healthily, and teaching basic cookery skills at an early age is one way to do this."
Pupils are currently being taught the benefits of healthy eating and a balanced diet during science lessons, and last week they learned how to make a variety of healthy foods, from fruit smoothies to vegetable pasties.
There are also plans to start a cookery club after Christmas involving children and parents.
