It's teamwork which made us outstanding
STAFF and pupils at one of High Peak's smallest primary schools are celebrating after being graded as outstanding by Ofsted.
The inspection report said Buxworth Primary School, with a place in the heart of the village community, provided an outstanding standard of education and care for its pupils.
Headteacher Lesley Hartley said staff, pupils, governors and parents were delighted with the inspectors' findings.
"A key feature of the report is the effective team-working in school and we're all agreed that it's our super team that has helped the children do so well in their time at Buxworth School," said Mrs Hartley.
The report stated that the school's overall performance since the last inspection, when it had been judged to be good, had improved.
Inspectors praised staff for their efforts to continually seek ways to further improve, particularly in terms of raising the standards and achievement of each pupil.
The leadership demonstrated by the headteacher had also strengthened significantly by what was described as a "recent and realistic reduction in her class teaching time" which ensured more time could be devoted to evaluating the school and planning strategically.
