BBC used Jackson's death as a smoke screen
ON FRIDAY last I awoke to a world that I thought had gone mad; i.e. the massive and continuous coverage of the death of Michael Jackson. I am writing this on the Sunday following; and it is still the lead item of news!
Anyone's death is a source of grief, especially to their family and friends; but to liken Michael Jackson to a Mozart or a Beethoven, as some of the press did, was beyond belief.
Here was a man with a certain talent which had been exploited to earn him a fortune, which he had lost. I fail to see what his contribution to the civilised world has been.
Last week the outrageous salaries which people at the top in the media (especially at the BBC) are receiving was exposed.
Was the Michael Jackson story used to crowd out any further discussion of another group who are exploiting taxpayers (who pay the licence fee) as shamelessly as our politicians have done?
