A family has spent a Christmas vigil at the bedside of their injured son.
Christopher Hallam suffered head trauma, a broken arm and a broken leg at 2 am on Friday when the 36-year-old pedestrian was involved in an accident with a Vauxhall Corsa on St John’s Road, Buxton.
It is believed Mr Hallam, of Park Road, was crossing the road at the time.
He was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital but then transferred to Salford Royal Hospital, where his partner Marta, parents Christine and Dave Hallam, friends and family, have constantly been at his bedside.
Family friend Terry Holland told the Advertiser on Wednesday: “He’s started to come round. Things are looking a bit rosier now.”
Christopher’s condition is now classed as “stable”, but he is still in the High Dependency Unit at Salford.
Police closed St Johns Road until 6.50am on the day of the accident, and are now appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information is urged to contact them on 101.
