Family fun day to mark Roaches landmark

A family fun day is to celebrate a milestone in the history of an iconic Staffordshire Moorlands estate.

The free event on Saturday May 4, organised by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, will mark the beginning of the nature conservation charity’s 125-year lease of the Roaches.

A host of wild activities will be on offer at the Roaches between 11am and 4pm, including making peregrine kites, creating clay tiles featuring the Roaches, bushcraft survival skills and examining the miniature world of bugs in the undergrowth.

Guided walks will also take place, and visitors will have the chance to meet the Trust’s new Roaches wardens, Jeff Sim and Eva Martin.

Jeff said: “This will be a great day out for all the family and a chance for people to find out more about Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and our plans for the Roaches.”
