THERE’S just under a week to go until the Olympic Torch arrives in Buxton on its journey around the country.
The flame will arrive at 5.03pm on Friday, June 29, for a 30-minute relay through the town. It will enter Buxton on the A6 Bakewell Road, departing at 5.30pm on the A515 London Road.
The relay will take in the A53 Bridge Street, A53 Station Road, A53 St John’s Road, Water Street, The Square, The Crescent, the A515 Terrace Road, High Street and London Road.
There will be rolling road closures as the torch makes its way through Buxton while the Crescent, the Square and Water Street will be closed all day.
The event will be followed by a picnic in the Pavilion Gardens.
Organised by High Peak Borough Council and partners, the party will include live music, performances in the bandstand by the Festival Fringe, and children’s storytelling.
