In order to free up space to achieve this, degree sports courses currently run at the Buxton Campus will move to Derby to take advantage of dedicated facilities in the form of the new £10.8m sports centre at its Kedleston Road site.

The transfer will not include its post-16 Further Education sports provision by Buxton & Leek College, which will continue to be provided at the Buxton Campus, Leek Campus and Harpur Hill Sports Centre. These include Level 1 – 3 qualifications in Sport, Leisure & Fitness and Adventurous Activities & Leadership.

Outdoor and adventure courses will continue to be delivered in Buxton, and the move does not currently have any effect on the status of the university’s Harpur Hill site.

No university courses will be lost as a result of the move, and all students studying in the town will continue to graduate there.

“Graduation is an integral part of the student journey at Buxton - all students studying in the town will continue to graduate there,” said a spokesman.
