HARPUR Hill Primary School’s talented sports stars have reached a sixth county final.
This time it was the school’s sharp shooters who had cause for celebration after their first team won the High Peak area netball competition, held at Buxton Community School on May 29.
Harpur had two teams representing Buxton in the area contest, and neither lost a match on their way to the final.
With the teams pitted against each other, and demonstrating a high standard of netball, it was the first team which eventually came out on top.
Harpur now go forward to represent the High Peak at the Derbyshire Summer Games County Final at Derby on Thursday June 21.
Joining them at this event will be the school’s Year 4 mini tennis team, which qualified to represent the area in a competition held at Buxton on May 25.
Headteacher Patrick O’Connor said: “It is a credit to everyone involved with sport in the school that Harpur Hill will have represented the High Peak in no less than six county finals this year.
“They have already achieved second place in Sportshall Athletics, third place in hockey, fourth place in basketball and fifth place in rugby, all at county finals.
“When you consider that there are well over 400 primary and junior schools across Derbyshire, this has to be considered a truly outstanding achievement for Harpur Hill.”
