Whaley Bridge student Katie Reid hopes her straight A* grades will lead to a career in the diplomatic service.

Katie, from Hill View, this year’s School Captain at the King’s School in Macclesfield, achieved the special mark of excellence in German, Maths and History and will now go up to Robinson College, Cambridge to read German and Spanish.

As a group King’s School A Level students smashed their A*/A record with 47% of all grades achieved at A* or A level.

In all 121 students received their results with 36 students achieving at least three A*/As or better. A total of 74% of grades were gained at A*/B level, with the A-C pass rate 94%.

Dr Simon Hyde, the new Head of the King’s Foundation, said: “I am utterly delighted that a new record has once again been set. Over the last few years the school has celebrated steadily improving results and this year is no exception.

“Clearly everyone has worked hard for this success and both students and staff can feel justifiably proud of their achievements. I look forward to working with such committed staff and so many talented young people.”
