HARPUR Hill Primary School was the winner of the Buxton Primary Schools Hockey Tournament. The school narrowly won the overall seven-a-side competition (boys and girls) from Burbage School.

From a record entry of 17 teams, involving 150 children from local schools including Peak Dale, Buxton Junior, St Anne’s, Peak Forest and Earl Sterndale, Harpur Hill won the girls’ league and Burbage won the boys’ league, both winning all their matches.

Buxton Hockey Club ran the tournament of 57 matches using six pitches at Buxton Community School, and the children enjoyed playing some amazing hockey in the drizzly conditions, watched by parents and teachers.

Tournament organiser Peter Danson wishes to thank Buxton Hockey Club members C Clayton for managing, J Meaton, S Longden, W Horton, M Kerr, C Kerr, J Cross for umpiring and T Riley for helping Sue Danson with the scoreboards.
