A YEAR eight pupil from Hope Valley College has picked up the top prize in a writing competition to mark the launch of the smash hit Box Office film The Hunger Games.

Michelle James had to write an imaginative piece based on the book by Katniss Everdeen, in the competition run by Waterstones in Sheffield, and describe what she would pick from the Cornucopia, a huge golden horn filled with survival items that could make the difference between life and death.

Michelle’s article won first prize of a pair of tickets to see the new The Hunger Games film at Cineworld in Sheffield.
