Harpur Hill Primary School’s sporting superstars have paraded their impressive haul of silverware, following 12 months of unprecedented success.
A string of impressive performances at county finals saw the Trent Avenue school clinch silver in the primary champion school category of the Derbyshire School Games Championship.
Headteacher Patrick O’Connor beamed: “Being the county silver medalists is such a great success for our primary school.”
Running throughout the 2012/13 school year, the Derbyshire School Games Championship saw teams awarded points for their placings in county finals.
Harpur represented High Peak as borough champions in basketball, tri-golf, year 3/4 mini tennis, Quadkids and High 5 netball.
Only heavy snowfall prevented them from appearing in the sportshall athletics county finals, while Harpur Hill’s High 5 netball team eventually went on to claim the East Midlands title.
Harpur’s second place in the primary School Games championship table saw them claim 34 points, topped only by Derby City West’s Dale Community Primary School.
Locally, the school won every Buxton cluster event it entered against neighbouring schools - hockey, year 3/4 boys and girls football, year 5/6 boys and girls football, High 5 netball, cross country, Quadkids, sportshall athletics, boys Kwik Cricket and swimming.
