CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH High School has netted its first senior netball county championship.

The year 11 squad beat teams including Lady Manners, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and Ecclesbourne on their way to the final, where they triumphed 7-5 over Trent College in a tight match to be crowned Derbyshire champions.

Head of PE Liz Milne said: “This was a title they very much deserved to win. They have been High Peak champions every year, and it has been a privilege to coach and work with them over the past five years.”

The team, captained by Alice Andrew, includes several county players and members of local netball clubs and senior league teams. Chapel will now go forward to represent Derbyshire in the regional championships in January at Northampton.
