Drug-driving law

Have your say

PLANS for a specific drug-driving offence to be introduced have been welcomed by the Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.

The Government plans were announced last week and will allow the police to charge a driver if specified levels of certain controlled drugs are found in their body.

The proposed new offence will attract an automatic 12-month driving ban and can also result in imprisonment for up to six months and a £5,000 fine.
