Driving ban brings £1,200 fine

A HIGH Peak man has been disqualified from driving after being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Martin Daly, 54, of Buxton Road, Whaley Bridge, was stopped by police in July 2011 and was arrested for driving over the legal limit.

He was convicted at court in November 2011 and appealed against the conviction.

He later withdrew his appeal at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, October 4 and was disqualified from driving for 20 months.

He was ordered to pay a fine of £1,200, a £15 victim surcharge and £620 towards the cost of prosecution.
