ALMOST 50 motorists were seen behind the wheel without a seatbelt during a day of action in Buxton last week.
Derbyshire Police officers cautioned or gave fixed penalty notices to 48 people seen driving without a seatbelt during the action day.
Ten other people were dealt with for using a mobile phone while driving.
Six drivers were issued with notices because their vehicles were defective.
These people will now have to take their vehicles to an MOT test centre to be repaired and then present paperwork at their local station to prove the work was carried out.
Anyone failing to do this can be taken to court.
The checks took place on the A6 at Buxton on Friday, July 20.
They were conducted by officers from Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team, Roads Policing and the Special Constabulary as well staff from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
