A team of Northern Rail volunteers spent the day at Disley recently to help give the station a well-earned makeover.
The team of 20 Northern Rail employees from the Safety and Environment team, local station teams and Friends of Disley station dedicated their time to improving the platform and waiting area for local customers.
Activities on the day included the repainting of the white fence behind the platform, as well as staining the two fences along the platforms and the repainting of the waiting shelter.
The team also got to grips with clearing the rubbish and rubble from the embankment area so that the Friends of Disley are able to plant there – bringing the station back to its former glory.
Erika Allen is Safety and Environment Director for Northern Rail.
She said: “We wanted to spend a day giving something back at one of our stations and Disley was suggested to us following feedback from our customers regarding how much better it could look.
“We hope the time we have spent here will be appreciated.
“We also hope it will make Disley a fresh and welcoming station to visit for years to come.”
Volunteers on the scheme included Northern’s Safety and Environment team, station managers, ISS as well as the Friends of Disley.
