DERBYSHIRE Dales residents can take advantage of discounted driveway alarms in a bid to maintain the district’s low crime record.
The alarms are being offered by the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership as a deterrent to would-be offenders after Home Office figures revealed another reduction in the past year in the district’s crime rate.
The wireless driveway alarms are being made available from a police mobile unit as part of crime prevention campaigns in the Dales and can also be bought from local police stations. They usually retail at between £30 and £35 but are being sold at £20 to Dales residents thanks to a subsidy by the Community Safety Partnership.
Derbyshire Dales District Council Leader Councillor Lewis Rose OBE, who is Chairman of the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, said: “This is yet another example of the excellent initiatives the police, the District Council and our other partners are working on to keep the Derbyshire Dales a safe place to live, work and visit.”
