Dip into your time for wells

BUXTON’S annual Well Dressing Festival is one of the major highlights of the summer for many people in the High Peak.

But the festivities are only possible because of a small group of dedicated volunteers who organise and run the events of the festival week.

Now the people responsible for the Well Dressing Festival are appealing for more people to spare some time and help with the organisation of the popular and much-loved event, which takes place every July.

There are a number of ways people can get involved including:

l Joining the main Well Dressing Committee - this involves monthly meetings and taking on a specific role or joining one of the sub-committees. People with expertise in publicity and administration are being sought, along with anyone keen to get involved. The committee is a team that organises the Well Dressing, the Carnival and all the other events of the Festival.

l Joining the Well Dressing team, assisting with the preparation of the boards or having a go at the art of well dressing. This involves a few hours or a few days in early July. The dressing team are in charge of designing and creating the well displays which are on shown throughout the town during the festival.

l Helping to marshall or collect on carnival day. Help to ensure the event runs safely and sufficient funds are collected to ensure the financial security of the event.

The AGM of Buxton Well Dressing Festival is taking place on Monday, November 12 at the Buckingham Hotel, Buxton at 7.30pm.
