Disley couple Arthur and Moira Hunstone celebrate 60 years of marriage today (Thursday).
The pair, who married at the former Congregational Church in Whaley Bridge, will be marking the milestone with a family meal.
They met as youngsters and have been inseparable ever since.
“We started going out when we are about 15,” Moira said.
“We wanted to get married at 18 but my parents said I had to wait until I was 21 so we could save up.”
Romantic Arthur still sends Moira flowers every anniversary as well as taking her away for the night.
On the secret of their long and happy marriage, Arthur said: “We’ve always been really in love which is why we’ve been so strong.”
Arthur began a plumbing apprentice at the age of 14, and later went on to start his own business as a plumbing and heating engineer once he had completed his National Service, while Moira worked in the offices of the North Western Road Car company.
They went on to have two children, Heather and Alistair, and five grandchildren.
The couple, both aged 80, enjoy travelling and have even enjoyed a round-the-world trip.
Arthur is a life member of Disley Golf Club, and both Arthur and Moira have been heavily involved in the local church.
