Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a house in Glossop.

At 10.30pm on Wednesday, January 15, a woman answered the door at her house on Woodhead Road.

A man forced his way in and demanded that she handed over her jewellery.

A second man then entered the house.

The men searched the house and left via the back door. They were seen driving away in a silver car which may have had smashed windows.

Residents are being urged to boost the security of their sheds, garages and outbuildings following a number of thefts in the area.

Between 9.30am and 5pm on Tuesday, January 6, offenders entered an outbuilding at a property on Horsleygate Road, Holmesfield, and stole items including a Stihl chainsaw, a Dewalt drill and horse tack.

Other non-dwelling burglaries have taken place Holmesfield, Unstone and Barlow over the past month.

Residents are being urged to secure their vehicles following recent thefts.

Between 8am and 8.20am on Friday, January 9, thieves broke into a Nissan Qashqai which was parked on Wheatcroft Close, Wingerworth, and stole Ray Ban sunglasses, phone charges and aftershave.

In another incident on Hallfield Close, Wingerworth, between 10pm on Wednesday, January 8 and 8.30am on Thursday, January 9, offenders broke into a Ford Focus and stole cash and CDs.

Police are appealing for information after a car was damaged.

Between 6.30pm on Friday, January 9 and 8am on Saturday, January 10, offenders used a sharp instrument to scratch down the passenger side of a black coloured Audi S3, causing damage to the paintwork.

The incident happened outside a house on Eyre Street, Hasland.

Cash and two laptops were stolen when thieves broke into a house.

Between 5pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday, January 14, thieves broke into a house on Brockwell Lane, Chesterfield, and stole the laptops and money.
