PLANS that could see the Moorside Hotel in Disley become some form of residential institution, are due to be decided on Wednesday, August 22.
The application, which has prompted widespread opposition from local residents and Disley Parish Council, will be determined by Cheshire East’s Strategic Planning Board.
Objections submitted by the parish council and in 42 letters sent on behalf of residents highlight the detrimental impact the loss of the hotel could have on tourism, employment, the local economy and the loss of the health and leisure club
Planning officers, who are recommending approval, have said: “The determination of this application is finely balanced.
“On the one hand, concerns are raised in respect of the sustainability of the site, the pressure the development will have on local services, the loss of tourist accommodation and leisure facilities; on the other hand, a C2 use is comparable to a hotel in terms of sustainability, and we are told that the current hotel use is not viable.”
