Decision awaited on controversial Buxton parking scheme

Council chiefs have promised to consider all feedback from the consultation on proposed new on-street parking restrictions for Buxton.

The changes announced by Derbyshire County Council in January set out new waiting restrictions, pay and display zones and residents’ permit parking areas.

However, both High Peak borough and Derbyshire county councillors have called on the plans to be delayed until a full review takes place, or scrapped completely.

A county council spokesman said: “We’re now considering the feedback from the consultation. Once this has been analysed a further report will be taken to Cabinet before any decisions about parking in Buxton are made. Any alternative plans would be developed, taking into account comments made as part of the consultation.”

If the scheme gets the go-ahead, there would be no waiting at any time restrictions on sections of Park Road, St John’s Road, Burlington Road, Bath Road, West Road, Lismore Grove, Lismore Park and Water Street.

Areas introducing no waiting between 10am and 4pm on Lismore Road and Lismore Grove would also be introduced.
