Woman assaulted in Buxton

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Buxton in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident occurred between 5.45am and 6am on Harpur Hill Road. During the assault, a man tried to take the victim's handbag.

The suspect is described as being white and in his late 20s. He was wearing a long navy blue or black anorak with fur around the hood, black trousers and black shoes. He also is believed to have had a distinctive walk.

The 52-year-old local woman was not injured.
