Two arrests over stolen scooter

POLICE officers who saw two women on a stolen scooter have arrested the pair.

At around 1am on Monday, February 20, officers patrolling New Mills by car saw two women on a scooter and decided to stop the vehicle.

The scooter had been stolen from a garage in Acorn Terrace, New Mills, between January 18 and 19 and the women, aged 18 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of theft and burglary. The scooter was also recovered.

The 18-year-old was given a caution and the 26-year-old was released on bail pending further inquiries.

When the garage was broken into, three mountain bicycles were also taken. These were Trek, Raleigh and Abyss makes.
