BUXTON pubs are being praised after they passed a test purchase operation by police and trading standards.
None of the ten premises visited in and around the town centre sold alcohol to the under age volunteers.
The operation was carried out jointly by police, Derbyshire County Council’s trading standards team and High Peak Borough Council’s licensing department.
Sergeant Mark Wright of the police licensing unit for the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales said: “It is pleasing to see that all of the licensed premises we checked passed.
“Under age drinking can often lead to anti-social behaviour, so not only can it affect the wider community but there is also a risk to the health and personal safety of that young person.”
