Police appeal after robbery at Buxton takeaway

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a Buxton takeaway on Monday night.

At about 9pm a man walked into Khomkhai Thai takeaway on Scarsdale Place, went behind the counter and tried to take money from the till.

The female owner came out of the kitchen when she heard a noise and saw him at the till. She hit him on his back but he pushed her aside, grabbed cash and ran off down South Street and Market Street, where the owner lost sight of him.

He was tall and skinny and was wearing a pale grey hooded top, with the hood up and dark trousers.

The previous evening someone wearing a similar top looked though the window of the premises but quickly disappeared. At the time the owner thought it was suspicious because he had his hood up. She believes he could be the man who committed the robbery.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
