Phone crackdown

Eleven motorists were stopped for not wearing their seatbelts and one for using their mobile phone during a joint operation between police and partner agencies, last week.

The operation on the A623 also saw the DVLA check almost 930 passing vehicles to see if they were taxed and insured and HM Revenue and Customs tested vehicles for red diesel. Six vehicles had no tax.

HGV drivers were given advice on what measures to take to help prevent diesel being stolen.
