A NEW MILLS man found in possession of cocaine was given a community order by High Peak magistrates on Monday.

Charlton Lewis Arnold Hicks, 32, of High Street, had admitted being in possession of the 1.4 grammes of crack cocaine, worth about £60, on September 2, at an earlier hearing. Hicks was given a 12 month community order with 12 months’ supervision and a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement to help him with his ongoing drug problem.

He must also pay £85 costs. The drugs will be forfeited and destroyed.
