Three motorcycles have been stolen from the same street in New Mills in the space of ten days.

In the latest incident at Beard Crescent, vandals stole a black Megelli motorbike from a garden overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, before smashing it up and ditching it in an alleyway nearby.

The thieves cut the brake lines, snapped the brake lever, bent the handle bars, removed the ignition barrel and cracked the exhaust.

On the night of September 24, a black Pulse Adrenaline XF125 motor-cross bike and a Honda CBR 125 were stolen from Beard Crescent driveways.

Police are advising motorcyclists to make sure their vehicles are secure and to consider investing in extra anti-theft devices.

PC Matt Cox added: “I’d urge people to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and if you see someone acting strangely in the area, call police straight away so we can stop a crime before it happens.”

Witnesses or anyone with information relating to the damage to or theft of the bike should call Derbyshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
