A man who harassed his ex-partner by posting notes through her door has been ordered to stay away from her for 18 months.
Edward Alderton had been in a relationship with Sarah Hunt since 2009 but the couple split in February, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard.
But in August, he began repeatedly contacting her, posting numerous notes, prosecutor John Cooper said.
Police were called and he was given bail conditions to not contact Ms Hunt but she continued receiving notes, the court heard.
Alderton, 38, of Green Lane Hadfield, admitted harassment without violence and failing to surrender to custody at High Peak Magistrates’ Court on September 8.
Katie Fowkes, defending, said Alderton was not opposed to the imposition of a restraining order but he wasn’t able to pay for a family solicitor in order to arrange contact with his child.
Alderton was given a 12-month community order with 12 months supervision and an eight-week curfew between 7pm and 7am. He must also pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge. Magistrates made a restraining order banning him from contacting Ms Hunt for 18 months.
