Helicopter called in over soccer trouble

DERBYSHIRE Police’s helicopter had to be called in at the weekend to prevent public disorder as Buxton FC took on Stockport County in a pre-season friendly.

The force’s helicopter was deployed to the Silverlands on Saturday afternoon as the Bucks hosted Dietmar Hamann’s side in a game which the Hatters won 2-0.

A police spokesperson said four people were ejected from the Silverlands by stewards and a further ten people were ejected from one of the town’s pubs by staff while the match was being played.

However, there were no arrests.
