Police in Glossop are teaming up to host a special constable and police support volunteer open day as part of National Volunteers Week.

Between 6pm and 9pm on Friday, June 5, residents are invited to attend Glossop Enquiry Office on Ellison Street, to find out more about how to become a volunteer with Derbyshire Constabulary.

During the event, people will be able to learn more about the roles of special constables and police support volunteers and how they can become involved themselves.

Sergeant Trevor Steed from the Glossop Town Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “The event is a fantastic opportunity for people to find out more about the volunteering opportunities within the force and how they can become involved.

“During the evening, serving specials and police volunteers will be on hand to chat about their own first-hand experiences, along with beat officers to offer advice and answer any questions.

“It is a great chance to find out more about what you can get from these roles and we hope to see lots of you there on the night.”

To find out more or to speak to the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
