An 84-year-old woman’s purse was stolen in a distraction burglary at her Hadfield home last night (Monday).

At around 6.30pm, a man knocked on the door of the property on Etherow Way, telling the lady that there was a problem with the water supply in the area. He asked if he could check her supply but once inside the house, the woman became aware of a second man who was also in the property. She then became suspicious and after telling the men she was expecting a visitor they left. The woman then discovered her purse had been taken from the living room.

The two men are described as being white, in their late 30s, of medium build and around five foot nine inches tall. They were both wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Derbyshire police on 101.
