A Whitfield woman has been fined for being drunk and disorderly outside the Star Inn, a court heard.

Sandra Lamsley, 50, of Uplands Road, pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced at High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard that police were called to the Howard Street pub on October 17 just before 8pm after receiving reports about a troublesome customer refusing to leave.

Upon arrival, officers said the defendant, who smelled strongly of alcohol, shouted and swore at them repeatedly.

Addressing magistrates, Lamsley said: “I’ve done a detox and I’ve not had a drink for quite a while.” She was fined £73 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
