Police who stopped a man in Buxton town centre they believed was under the influence of drugs found he had a small quantity of heroin in his possession, a court heard.
Leigh Ben Price, 30, of Fairfield Road, admitted being in possession of the class A drug, worth less than £5, on October 25 and failing to answer police bail on November 4, when he appeared before High Peak magistrates on Monday.
He had tried to conceal the small plastic bag containing the drugs when searched.
John Richards, defending, said his client had an horrendous record.
He told the court Price had been a drug user for the last 12 years, but had reduced his drug usage and was seeking help to address his problems.
Magistrates fined Price £67, ordered him to pay a £15 government surcharge and £85 court costs.
An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs seized.
