Crime car on show

A HIGH powered car and more than £1 million seized from criminals in Derbyshire is going on display at a Buxton supermarket next week.

The car, a Lexus IS200, will be on show at Morrisons on Wednesday, March 14 as officers aim to encourage the public to report people they think could be living off the proceeds of a criminal lifestyle.

There will also be a chest of ‘cash’, a batch of fake £50 notes produced by Derbyshire Constabulary with details of the cars and other assets seized from criminals in the last year.

At the heart of the event is ‘dirty cash’, a campaign based around the Proceeds of Crime Act and other legislation which allows police to pursue criminals through the courts to confiscate their ill-gotten gains.
