A Chinley pensioner has been charged with causing the death of Keith Anbrey by careless driving.

At High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Joseph Wild, of White Knowle, did not indicate a plea to the indictment, which relates to driving a Mitsubisi Shogun on the A6 Buxton Road in Newtown on March 23.

The 73-year-old pleaded not guilty to two further offences, namely failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report the incident.

The defendant was released on unconditional bail and will appear at Derby Crown Court on September 29 for a plea and case management hearing.
