The chief executive of Sports Direct, which has a large base in Shirebrook, has been charged with a criminal offence in connection with the collapse of the group’s fashion retailer USC.
David Forsey’s case is due to be heard at Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Wednesday afternoon.
The accused, 49, of Haybridge, in Prestbury, Macclesfield, allegedly failed to notify authorities of plans to lay off warehouse staff in Scotland, the UK Insolvency Service has confirmed.
Mr Forsey, who is a FTSE 100 chief, is the boss of the UK’s biggest sports chain, which is owned by billionaire Mike Ashley.
