AN operation to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed or injured on Derbyshire’s roads during the summer has ended, with fewer fatalities compared to last year.
Operation Focus, funded by the Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership, ran from Good Friday to the end of September.
There were five motorcyclists killed on the county’s roads between April and September this year, compared to 11 during the same period in 2011.
And the number of bikers seriously injured has also fallen.
As part of the operation, police patrolled roads where collisions are most common.
