The defendant, who admitted damaging internal fixtures and furnishings belonging to his landlord Simon Graham last month after falling out with a housemate, was sentenced at High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

On arrival at the scene, police, who were called to reports of a disturbance at about 11.15pm, saw smashed glass and debris on the floor and a television fly out of the window.

When an inebriated Doyle spotted officers outside, he said: “Oh good, I could do with some more entertainment.”

Two double glazed windows, a 32-inch television and a microwave were smashed, and two leather sofas, a coffee table, the walls and the kitchen units were damaged in the incident, totalling £2,200 of repairs.

The probation service reported that the defendant, now of Torside Mews, showed a lack of remorse but Annis Rowlands, defending, said her client was sorry but had failed to say because he was quiet.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order consisting of alcohol treatment and supervision requirements and a four-week curfew.

Doyle was also ordered to pay £1,800 in compensation.
