A man who admitted to 12 offences of making indecent images of children has been put on the sex offenders’ register for five years and given a community sentence.

John Wright, 44, of Milnbank Avenue, Buxton, pleaded guilty to possession of the images at Derby Crown Court last week.

The evidence was discovered when police seized computer equipment belonging to Wright and found a large quantity of images and films.

At court the judge ordered that he must complete a three-year community order, participate in a sex offender treatment programme and pay £500 towards the cost of the prosecution.

He is also subject of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) for a period of five years.
