A man who was allegedly assaulted in Buxton almost two months ago remains in hospital.

John Peacock, 53, of Bath Road, was found unconscious outside the London Road Inn at about 10.30pm on Saturday, September 12.

Police said he had suffered a serious head injury.

Mr Peacock’s stepdaughter Rebecca Green said: “He’s still in Salford Royal Hospital and will be for a while yet.

“My mum and John’s sister have a meeting in about four weeks’ time to see how much he has progressed and if he can possibly be moved closer to home.

“He still has no memory of what has happened and is very confused.

“His speech is getting better and he’s walking around, but is under 24-hour care.

“It’s still upsetting for us having to see him like this but we’re all praying for improvements.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the alleged assault should call police on 101.
