A motorist caught travelling at over 100 miles an hour on the A6 at Whaley Bridge has been banned from driving.
Police on duty on the A6 at 1.10pm on October 6 saw a BMW motorbike exceeding the 70 mile an hour speed limit, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard. The bike was recorded as travelling at 103 miles an hour, prosecutor Jennifer Fitzgerald said.
Rider Timothy David Durham, 39, of Parkfield Drive, Tyldesley, Manchester, admitted speeding.
Richard Silver, defending, said: “It was a new vehicle, he had just bought it and was not familiar with it. He didn’t realise the speed he was going at on the dual carriageway.”
Durham was banned from driving for four weeks and fined £505. He must also pay £35 costs and a £50 surcharge.
