Council hits target

Derbyshire County Council has made a good start towards meeting a target of cutting its carbon emissions.

The authority made a commitment to cut its CO2 emissions by 25 per cent between 2011 and 2015. In the first year, levels have been cut by more than 5,000 tonnes, a reduction of 6.5 per cent.

Councillors said the reduction shows the authority has a “firm commitment to the environment”.
