HIGH Peak households have been asked to bear with the Borough Council as it moves towards a comprehensive kerbside recycling service.
Anthony McKeown, executive councillor for community services, said some families were struggling to fit all their cardboard in the blue bag they now had to use for the material.
But he reassured residents that the use of the blue bag for cardboard was a temporary measure and that the council was working on plans for a comprehensive kerbside service that would include the collection of plastics which was likely to be introduced next May or June.
Larger blue bags ordered by the council’s contractor, Veolia Environmental Services, are being issued. The council is also investigating collection locations around the borough to enable residents to pick up additional blue bags, after requests to the council in recent weeks tipped over the 2,000 mark.
In addition, carrier bags can be put out for collection alongside the blue bag.
