COGS ready to move up a gear

A COMMUNITY group are a step closer to transforming an existing playing field into an open space for everyone to enjoy.

After years of hard work members of Furness Vale COGS (Community Organisation Green Space) look set to achieve the ‘QE2’ status under the Queen’s Jubilee programme to save green spaces with their project to improve the site by levelling it and putting in drainage to enable it to be used by the community.

Now the dedicated team of volunteers are calling on more villagers for support as they seek further grant funding and work towards charitable status.

Committee member Stuart Webster said: “We are looking for volunteers to help with the issues that are going to come up.”

Expertise they are looking for include legal skills, accountancy, communications or knowledge of tendering processes.

Anyone who would like to get involved in some way are welcome to go along to the AGM being held on Thursday September 20 at Furness Vale Community Centre at 7pm.

Those unable to attend but who would still like to get involved in can contact Stuart Webster on 07866 377035 or email stuart@bluesci.org.uk .
