THE RSPCA is appealing for information after three Maran cockerels were found dumped in a lay-by on the A57 Snake Pass.
The birds were rescued by the RSPCA on May 15, but it is believed they had been in the location for a number of days.
RSPCA inspector Dave McAdam, who rescued the birds, said: “It’s quite amazing that they have managed to survive, they could have e been hit by the traffic, or they could have been attacked by another animal.
“I would appeal to anyone who has any information about who might own these birds to contact the RSPCA cruelty line 0300 1234 999. These birds are quite unusual so someone out there must know something.”
The three birds, which have been named, Compo, Foggy and Clegg are now available for rehoming: call 01246 273358 or visit www.chesterfield-rspca.org.uk.
