Buxton was chosen as a stop-off to promote a scheme supporting the legacy of the Olympics.

Sports foundation Activate is raising funds to promote its free The Co-operative Active Culture programme to 80,000 children across at least 200 primary schools over the next year.

A 210-mile bike ride from Manchester Velodrome to Regents Park in London, led by Luke Sutton, director of Activate Sport Management and ex-captain of Derbyshire Cricket Club stopped off at the Co-Op in Spring Gardens on Friday to raise awareness of the scheme which will pay for sports coaches to spend six weeks at each school in 2013.
